Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has been contracted by Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) for the redevelopment of Addu Regional Port. Accordingly, a special contract awarding ceremony was held on Friday, where the agreement pertaining to the project was signed by both parties.
The scope of work for this project will include dredging operations of 972,500cbm; reclamation operations of 8.05 hectares; a 2360m breakwater construction; a 500m revetment; installation of 25,900sqm harbor pavement and harbor lights. Whereas the project is valued at MVR 211.771 million, it is scheduled to be completed within a duration of 525 days.
Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) is the first and longest-serving public company in the nation that has position itself as the leading civil and marine constructor in the country. In this capacity, the company continues to successfully undertake multiple projects simultaneously across all parts of the Maldives – even with the difficulties posed by the ongoing pandemic.
In this regard, this is the second project the construction giant has been contracted to Addu City within this week, the first being the project to upgrade the old harbor at Hithadhoo awarded to them by the Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure on 1
