The Junior Astronaut Program Which Will Open Gateways to Become a Professional Astronaut

Earlier this month, Institute for Global Success (IGS) proudly launched the first ever space program in Maldives in partnership with KFS Space Foundation of the UK. During a ceremony held yesterday, they have launched a Junior Space Program, another first of its kind in the Maldives.

Junior Space Program will commence on 6th December 2020 and will continue until 7th January 2021. It is targeted towards children between the ages of 13 to 15. IGS will accommodate a maximum of 28 students for the first batch under the program which will be selected on a first-come-first-serve basis. Those who do not make the cut for the first batch will be waitlisted and given priority for such training opportunities in the future.

Students who successfully complete the training will be awarded a certificate from the Canadian Space Agency. One of the main incentives about choosing this program as I see it is as it open doors for further training opportunities with the NASA to those interested after finishing program. Although at the end of the program, it might not make one a professional astronaut, students will have the chance wear an astronaut uniform to feel like something close to it.
