Institute for Global Success (IGS) was formed in order to develop a new set of Maldivian leaders, engineers and scientists who are committed to reach their full potential and eventually, towards world class success. Affirming its position, IGS, has launched the first ever space program in Maldives in partnership with KFS Space Foundation of the UK. Prior to launching the program, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the two parties for the purpose, back in October.
The space program is targeted towards students pursuing their higher education. Under the program, participants will be trained as astronauts; equipping them with the tools necessary to design, build and launch space crafts and to conduct world-class scientific research. Training will be provided by experts from the United States which is facilitated under grant assistance from the KFS Space Foundation.

In addressing the audience at the ceremony, the Chairman and Chief Executive Office of IGS, Mr. Rifath Mohamed, noted that the first research program under the space project will be introduced sometime early next year.
IGS hopes to see Maldivian astronauts working in the space industry and hopes that the program leads to the development of a local space program.
