India Marks Beginning of a New Era in their Aviation Industry with Assistance from Maldivian Aero

When we brought you the news of India’s first ever Seaplane Project last week, were you as eagerly waiting as ua to see the operations commence? Well, good news, it has commenced as scheduled yesterday! As you know by now, our national airline, Maldivian Aero played a significant role in implementing the project.

The operations were officially inaugurated by the Prime Minister of India, His Excellency, Mr. Narendra Modi. It is aimed to revolutionize the connectivity of the country at a regional level at low cost in order to boost local tourism. The operations are projected to be operated by Indian local airline, SpiceJet for which they had chartered a seaplane from Maldivian Aero for the purpose. This aircraft was used for the maiden excursion - which was operated by a crew from Maldivian Aero - providing a charter service to the Prime Minister in marking the milestone. He was given a thorough brief of the process prior to taking off by Mr. Hussain Fazeel, one of the crewmates of Maldivian Aero.

As of now, SpiceJet will be operating two flights per day between Sabarmati Riverfront in Ahmedabad and the Statue of Unity in Kevadia. Maldivian Aero reports that they will providing technical support to SpiceJet for the smooth run of the operations. They also highlighted how honored we as a country should feel as India could have turned to any country for assistance, yet they chose us, symbolizing the strong bilateral relations we have with each other.
