Since the border re-opening, now we can surely say that things are really looking up for the tourism industry in Maldives. Up until 21st October, a total number of 31, 801 tourists have arrived in the county. Apart from this, international airlines currently operating to Maldives has increased their flight frequencies whereas some others have announced that they will be resuming flight operations.
To top it off, Maldives Airports Company Limited was pleased to announce yesterday that a whopping number of 126 ad hoc flights have landed in Velana International Airport just this month alone; inclusive of chartered flights and private jets. This sees an increase of 110% since September.
A total number of 273 ad hoc flights has been recorded since the border re-opening. In July 28 ad hoc flights landed at Velana International Airport whilst it was 59 in the month of August and 60 in the month of September. This a notion which confirms that tourism industry is yet again flourishing at a steady pace day-by-day.
If the updated statistics does not change your mind about travelling to Maldives, perhaps this might; Velana International Airport has received health accreditation by Airports Council Maldives whereas the country itself holds a ‘Safe Travel Stamp’ from World Travel and Tourism Council.
