Maldives Placed on England’s Red List

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has cautioned travelers from the Maldives to the U.K. of the latest updates of England’s entry rules.  

At a time when the spread of Covid19 has heightened across the globe, U.K. has strengthened its entry rules. The Red List is a list of countries from which travelers will be banned to enter the U.K. should you have stayed or transit in 10 days prior to arriving in the U.K. 

It has been officially announced that the Maldives will be placed on the list effective from 4 a.m. on May 12, 2021. Travelers from the Maldives to the U.K. will not be permitted entry to the country except for British or Irish Nationals, or those who have residence rights in the UK. 

The following rules are to be followed by travelers to England from countries that are on the Red List.  

  • Before travelling to England, complete a passenger locator form, take a COVID19 test which must result negative, and book a mandatory quarantine hotel package, including 2 COVID-19 tests. 
  • Upon arrival to England, passengers must quarantine in a managed hotel, including 2 COVID-19 tests
