President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih yesterday has declared the fate of two authorities, National Drug Agency and The Ministry of Communications, Science and Technology in official statements released by the President’s Office yesterday. These decisions were made under the powers vested upon him in Article 116, Section (a) of the Constitution of the Republic of Maldives.
According to the announcements, functions of the National Drug Agency which were previously overlooked by the Ministry of Gender, Family, and Social Services will be henceforward carried under the Ministry of Health.
Ministry of Communications, Science and Technology was dissolved yesterday too, mandating its functions and responsibilities to be undertaken by the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Technology. This will be the new name of Ministry of Environment from now forward. As part of the new structure, staff of the now-dissolved Ministry of Communications, Science and Technology will be transferred to the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Technology.
The administrative reorganization of the government comes under President Solih’s efforts to improve and strengthen public services and ensure the delivery of the administration’s pledges.
