The Harbor Development Project of Fehendhoo in Baa Atoll is estimated at a value of MVR 49.6 million. On 2nd July 2019, Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure contracted state-owned Maldives Transport and Contracting Company Plc (MTCC) to undertake the construction work.
Under the project, MTCC is tasked with dredging and excavation of 43.500 cubic meters in order to deepen the lagoon for harbor development; installation of an exterior barrier consisting of 130 meters; installation of revetment to an area of 282 meters; an internal barrier of 214 meters and a concrete walkway bridge. The project also entails the construction of a ramp with navigational masts and harbor lights.
The project was mobilized on 10th November, last year. On July this year, MTCC informed that they had completed 43% of the project. Today, MTCC gave new updates in respective of the project, stating they have begun the installation of precast concrete blocks required for the construction of quay wall under the project.
Apart from this project, MTCC is simultaneously involved in civil and marine constructions contracted to them in several other islands by government agencies.
Maldives Transport and Contracting Company is the first public company incorporated in Maldives and currently comprises of a work force of over 1090 employees throughout the country.
