Due to rapid rise of Covid-19 cases in India, many nations ceased travel to the country as the situation continues to deteriorate. It has been reported that some hospitals are so crammed that they facing shortages of oxygen due to which patients in critical conditions are dying.
Consequently, Maldives Immigration updates travel advisory to Maldivians and work visa holders travelling to and from India – making a 10-day home quarantine mandatory work even if they have completed both vaccine doses. Control measures have been further tightened by the Maldives Immigration today.
Accordingly, effective immediately, until further notice – Maldivians and work visa holders arriving in the Maldives from India will be are required to produce a negative PCR test result from a sample obtained at least 96 hours prior to departure and also must do a PCR test within 24 hours of arrival in the Maldives in addition to the 10-day mandatory home quarantine. Those quarantined will only be released after a PCR test conducted following the completion of the quarantine period.
India confirmed a total of 3,15,660 cases and 2,091 deaths in a single day on April 21, 2021. No country has yet recorded more cases in a single day.
