It has been reported that some hospitals are so crammed that they facing shortages of oxygen due to which patients in critical conditions are dying. Maharashtra, one of the most populous states in the country and home to Mumbai, one of the biggest cities in the country is the worst-hit.

While India remains as the top tourist market to the Maldives at present, Maldives Immigration has announced that those arriving to the Maldives from India with exception of tourists – meaning Maldivian citizens and work visa holders – are now mandated to undergo 10-day home quarantine in their place of residency or work even if they have completed both vaccine doses.

The decision comes just a few days after quarantine-free travel was permitted for those who have completed two-doses of the vaccine.
