HPA Finally Finds A Solution To Eliminate Long Queues At Vaccination Centers

One of the recent distresses of those living in the Male’ region has been extremely long queues at vaccination centers as the operational hours of the centers had been shortened for the holy month of Ramadan - being from 9pm to 11pm. Due to high turnout of people to get their jabs, HPA has a couple of days ago also extended the operations hours from 9pm to 11:45pm – which, however, did not lessen the queues.

Hence, a smarter solution has been found by the Authority to prevent congestion at atleast three vaccination centers – which is by making arrangements for people attending to receive vaccines being able to check the queue status online by scanning the QR code on their tokens. These three vaccination centers are: Social Center, National Art Gallery and Hulhumale’ Vaccination Center – all that administer the second dose of the Covishield vaccine.

Accordingly, here is a guideline as to how you pay scan the QR code and check the queue status.

- Open your camera application

- Aims your camera at the QR code on the token for it to automatically scan (Note: Certain phones may not have this feature)

- Tap on the pop-up text/link after scanning which will show the token number currently being served and the number of people waiting ahead of you.
