On Sunday, a virtual ceremony was held to mark the inauguration of the establishment of inclusive education support units in the schools; Afeefuddin School in Haa Dhaalu Kulhudhuhfudhi and Hafiz Ahmed School in Gnaviyani Fuvahmulah. This was project valued at MVR 1.6 million which was funded by Grant Assistance from the Government of India. The ceremony was graced by the Minister of Foreign Affairs His Excellency Dr. Abdulla Shahid, Minister of Education Dr. Aishath Ali, honorable Members of Parliament of the respective constituencies and High Commissioner of India to the Maldives His Excellency Mr. Sunjay Sudhir.
Under this project, the human resource capacity of the Inclusive Education Support Units established in both schools had been strengthened by miles through providing specialized training programs offered to staff members and the procurement of learning materials. In addition, the infrastructure of the Inclusive Education Support Units at both schools has undergone refurbishment, to provide a conducive learning environment for the students and staff of the schools.
The Grant Assistance of MVR 106 million by the Government of India was provided back in March 2019 for the purpose of conducting high-impact socio-economic development projects across the nation. The projects under this grant are managed by local authorities.
