For the longest time, residents of Hulhumale’ Phase One have been complaining about the lack of proper lighting in major parts of the city. Housing Development Corporation has taken the task upon themselves and unveiled Street Light Master Plan for Hulhumale’.
Under the plan, 14 areas and roads lacking proper lighting and those that need light fixtures have been identified at Hulhumale’ Phase One. Hdc announced that work has commenced on upgrading the lights to set standards. The organization further notes that however, during working hours, the current lights have to be switched off and warns road users to be extra cautious during these times. HDC sinserely apologizes for any inconveniences caused.
As per the project, 1330 lights in the 14 identified zones will be fixed and/or replaced. The ongoing upgrades in Zone 1, 2, and 3 is set to be completed within 3 days. The full project is planned to be completed by the end of June according to HDC.
