After the recent announcements by the Health Protection Agency (HPA), easing measures taken against Covid-19 to allow individuals to travel within the country without having to quarantine following two weeks after getting the second dose of the vaccine – the Ministry of Tourism has broken the good news that resort workers will also be allowed to travel to their residential islands in the same manner.
This will also come to effect on 20th April. Quarantine will not be mandatory for resort workers travelling to an island of which’s at least 60% of the eligible population has administered both doses of the Covid-19 vaccine. Nevertheless, those travelling islands in which the amount of people vaccinated from the eligible population is lesser than 60%, is required to provide a negative PCR test if such an individual is travelling from island with over 5% of positive cases to an island without as much cases.
As per the latest statistics of the Ministry of Tourism, 90% of tourism industry workers have been inoculated the first dose of the vaccine, counting up to a total of 33,638 people – that is 32,886 resort workers, 306 guesthouse employees, 220 workers in liveaboard vessels, 70 in hotels, 64 performing arts in resorts, 24 in the travel agencies, and 67 staff members at the ministry.
