On last Wednesday, Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Abdulla Shahid departed to India on an official visit. As part of the visit, on Friday, Minister Shahid paid a courtesy call to his counterpart, Minister of External Affairs of India Dr. S. Jaishankar. The meeting was held at Hyderabad House.
At this meeting, both Ministers discussed the present situation of the COVID-19 pandemic in their respective countries and the vaccination programs. Minister Shahid also extended gratitude to the Government of India for the abundance of assistance rendered to the people of Maldives throughout the pandemic. Following this. the Minster Jaishankar assured India’s continuous support for the socio-economic development of the Maldives, including the uninterrupted supply of essential commodities.
Apart from this, the Ministers reviewed the progress on bilateral cooperation and discussed discuss the implementation of key developmental projects under the Indian Lines of Credit extended to the Maldives.
