Minister Shahid Departs To India For A Two-Day Official Visit

On Wednesday, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Abdullah Shahid departed to the India for an official visit. He is scheduled to return back on 16th April.

As per the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the purpose of the visit is to review progress on bilateral cooperation, and discuss the implementation of key developmental projects under the Indian Lines of Credit extended to the Maldives. These projects to name a few include of the Thilamale' Bridge project, construction of housing units in the Male' area as well as the development of the Gan International Airport and Hanimaadhoo International Airport. In line with this, Minster Shahid will meet his counterpart, the Minister of External Affairs of India Dr. S. Jaishankar where they will discuss these matters in addition to other bilateral and multilateral issues of mutual interest.

Apart from this, the Minister will also be meeting some of the non-resident Ambassadors accredited to the Maldives in Delhi, during this visit.
