Male’ City Street Scraping Project by RDC

Male’ City Street Scraping project was awarded to Road Development Corporation (RDC) by Male’ City Council on 10th August 2020. The total cost of the project is estimated to be worth MVR 462 million. Under this project, RDC is set to renovate 18 kilometers of roadway and pavement in existing 416 roads with additional 21 brand new parking spaces. RDC will be developing four types of road under the project; arterial roads, city roads, secondary roads and neighborhood pedestrian roads.

The project will be carried out on three distinct phases. Work under the first phase of the project has already commenced. This phase is specifically targeted towards the renovation of the western wing road of Male’. The management of RDC regularly oversees the progress of the work carried out under the project. In this regard, yesterday, the Managing Director of RDC, Mr. Moosa Ali Manik along with other members holding managerial positions in RDC visited the project site currently under construction for physical inspection and to measure the progress of the work already completed under the phase one.

In undertaking the work of this project, RDC is firmly determined to provide a permanent solution for the flooding issue in Male’ city, by development of quality roads with a comprehensive framework for maintenance of the roads to significantly contribute to over-all infrastructural development of the City.
