All You Need to Know About Paying Fitr Zakat for Ramadan 1442

It has been announced via an official press by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs that payment for Fitr Zakat for Ramadan 1442 will commence for collection from April 13, 2021 to May 14, 2021. The ministry stresses on the importance of utilizing the online payment portals through which the Fitr Zakat payment can be processed conveniently online.  

They are as follows: 

 
Furthermore, payments will be accepted over the counter from Maldives Islamic Bank at the main branch and Hulhumale’ branch. Physical payment collection on local islands will be arranged by the island/city councils.  

The Ministry will arrange for a payment collection center at the main hall of Ministry of Islamic Affairs from April 15, 2021 onwards for the elderly and those unable to process the payments online. The collection center will be open from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 15, 2021 and from 9.30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on official business days from April 16, 2021 onwards.  

The amount to be paid for Fitr Zakat was also announced by the Ministry. Ideally, the price is decided based on the price for 2.5 kg of common wheat commodities used as food on the island. Tnhis year, residents of the Greater Male region are to follow the below list for Fitr Zakat payments.  

  • Standard Rice – MVR 12 
  • Thailand White Rice – MVR 52 
  • Red Rice – MVR 78 
  • Standard Basmati Rice – MVR 65 
  • High-standard Basmati Rice – MVR 89 
  • Highest Quality Basmati Rice – MVR 125 
  • All purpose flour – MVR 10 
  • Atta flour – MVR 59
