STO Inaugurates ‘STO Agricenter’

On Monday night, a special ceremony was held to open the STO Agricenter. In a pledge to establish means for a direct trade with local farmers, the opening of the Agricenter will allow farmers to sell their produce and get paid on the spot at the shop. The center was opened by CEO and MD of STO, Husen Amru.

The shop will be a reseller of solely local produce on a wholesale and retail basis to the market. STO had decided on a minimum price for 15 different varieties of fruit and vegetable to be sourced from local farmers. The decision was reportedly taken after thorough discussion and consideration of the opinion of local farmers. The prices are a profitable amount after deducting all the expenses involved up until the produce reaches the Agricenter.

Speaking at the ceremony, Amru expressed the vision of STO in providing farmers with this golden opportunity. He said that by directly communicating with farmers, the challenges previously faced by them in getting a fair and profitable price for their products in the market and delays in payment will be completely solved.

He further threw light on the future plans of STO in expanding their trade to local resorts. If established, this will further elevate the profitable prices STO will be able to quote to farmers. Additionally, once STO starts wholesaling the local produce in to the market, they anticipate a control over the unpredictable prices of fruits and vegetables in the market currently.
