The Ministry of Economic Development on Thursday has announced the allowed opening hours of eateries and shops for the holy of month of Ramadan and the first seven days of Shawwal.
As per the announcement, cafés and restaurants will be allowed to operate between 05:30pm and 03:00am for this period. On the other hand, shops are allowed to keep opened from 8am to 12pm during this period.
The Ministry also further reminds all establishments to strictly adhere to the safety measures set out by the Health Protection Agency, when going about their day-to-day business.
With the recent easement of safety measures taken against the spread of COVID-19 in the Male’ Region, eateries are allowed to operate between 4:30am to 1am whereas shops are allowed to keep opened from 5:30am to 12am.
Prior to this, the President’s Office has announced the decision by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih to set the government working hours for the same period from 9am to 1pm.
On this year, the first of Ramdan is expected to fall on 13th of April whereas the first of Shawwal is expected to be 13th of May.
