Dhiraagu Concludes #GirlsToCode GDH. Thinadhoo Edition

A virtual ceremony has been held yesterday to mark the successful conclusion of the G.Dh Thinadhoo Edition of Girls to Code Programme. This is the second program held in the series, and a total of 17 participants graduated from the 2-month course.  

The ceremony was honored by Chief guest Mr. Mohamed Shifaaz, Principal of Gdh. Atoll Education Center, who was joined by Ms. Athifa Ali, Director of Corporate Services, Dhiraagu, Aminath Farshana, Program Facilitator at Women in Tech Maldives and parents of the graduates. 
 
During the ceremony, all graduates were handed certificates of completion of the course and a presentation showcased 3 of the highlight websites prepared by the students who took part in the course. The program was focused to candidates aged 14 – 20 years from G.DhThinadhoo who had no previous knowledge of coding.  

Speaking on behalf of the participants, Maryam Dheema expressed her gratitude to the organizations who get together in opening up such opportunities to girls in the island. Even though they thought coding was more complicated than doable, all of them are now confident that there is scope of making a successful career in the field of coding.  

Ms. Athifa also spoke in the ceremony, advising the graduates to continue pursuing their passions and utilizing the knowledge they have acuired through the course. She also thanked Women in Tech for their many such initiations in empowering women. Ms. Farshana too encourages the participants and applauded the determination and enthusiasm they had for the experience.  

Chief Guest, Mr. Shifaaz highlighted how the knowledge of coding can be essential in becoming entrepreneurs in the future, further encouraging the graduates to value and broaden their minds on the many opportunities available in the field.
