The Eco Org and Ooredoo Maldives partnered up with Roboy, a robotic startup based out of Technical University of Munich to give an out of Maldives experience for students. In this robotics-based telepresence event powered by Ooredoo 5G AirFibre held at the VR Café, ten lucky robotics students from Ghiyaasuddin International School and Billabong High School got the unique opportunity to virtually teleport themselves from the Maldives to Germany!
‘Roboy’ is an advanced humanoid robot that uses artificial intelligence, designed to imitate the human body with muscles and tendons, just like humans. Roboy 3.0 assures that teleporting is not just about being somewhere else instantly, but is also about creating value in doing do. It is about strengthening connections between humans, between places, moments and across time, with the goal to become a more sustainable and joint society.
During this event, students were introduced to the capabilities of robotics, artificial intelligence, and the internet of things in a 5G-enabled future. Accordingly, using VR, students were enabled to ‘teleport’ themselves to Germany as Roboy – to view what he could see in addition to being able to control the movements of him using telepresence from Male’.
Telepresence robotics is already building exciting, unexpected, and unanticipated bridges. Ooredoo Maldives gives their assurance to continue to enhance its network across the Maldives for the purpose of connecting its customers to the best technologies and services that the digital world has to offer.
