President Check Ups On Residents Of Addu & Fuvamulah City Currently Experiencing Severe Weather Via Telephone

Torrential rains, thunderstorms and strong winds in the course of past two days have caused major damages to many parts of Addu and Fuvahmulah City. Whereas a white alert was initially issued by the Maldives Meteorological Center on Sunday, it was later developed into a yellow alert that later escalated to an orange alert in the southernmost atolls.

On Monday evening, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih made separate phone calls to Addu City Mayor Abdulla Sodiq and Fuvahmulah City Mayor Abdulla Falah to check on the residents who have been victims of the incessant downpours. He also inquired regarding the severity of the storm and damage caused due to the torrential rains, high winds and ensuing flooding.

In addition to this, the President made calls to the respective Members of Parliament of both cities where they discussed the current state of affairs and look into ways they could alleviate the difficulties faced by the residents.

During both the calls, the President gave assurance that his administration was diligently working to resolve the challenges in the face of continued severe weather.
