Official Inauguration of R. Dhuvaafaru Major Roads Construction Project (Phase 2)

R. Dhuvaafaru Major Roads Construction Project began on 2019 whereas all construction work under the project was divided to 2 separate phases. Maldives Transport and Contracting Company Plc (MTCC) who had completed the construction of Phase 1 of the project will be taking on the construction of Phase 2 as well.

During a special function held at R. Dhuvaafaru yesterday, R. Dhuvaafaru Major Roads Construction Project (Phase 2) was officially inaugurated by Chief Executive Officer of MTCC, Mr. Adam Azim, Chief Operating Office of MTCC, Mr. Shahid Hussain Moosa, State Minister of Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure, Mr. Akram Kamaludeen and R. Dhivaafaru Constituency Parliament Member Mr. Ismail Ahmed. Additionally, Mr. Azim and Mr. Akram Kamaludeen inspected the work carried out by MTCC during Phase 1 of the project and were given detailed briefs on the latest updates of the project.

Major Roads Construction Project (Phase 2) is worth USD 2.45 million and is targeted to be completed in a period of 300 days. MTCC will be undertaking the laying of asphalt on a road area equivalent to 25,513 square meters and paving an area equivalent to 6,813 square meters. Apart from this, a stormwater drainage system and cable junction boxes will also be installed. MTCC highlighted that the stormwater drainage system will be created with emphasis on infiltration rather than pumping, to ensure that the freshwater lens of the island is replenished.
