Edexcel A’ Level Examinations Unexpectedly Moved Up To 26th April

The Ministry of Education has made an announcement disclosing that Edexcel A’ Level Examinations of this year that was previously scheduled to be held during May/June have been unexpectedly moved up to 26th April.

According to the Ministry, the changes to the schedule were made by Edexcel, the organizers of the examination, whereas no prior discussions had taken place between the Ministry and Edexcel nor the Department of Public Examination of the Maldives – before coming to the decisions. Consequent to this, the Ministry has requested Edexcel to stick to the initial schedule – nevertheless to no avail.

The changes brought to the schedule means that HSC examinations will be held after one month from these examinations from 13th June to 17th June – a generous delay from local stakeholders

Whilst the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has massively impacted the education sector across the globe, Edexcel has first decided against holding the examinations this year with an alternative that teachers shall assess the students based on their assessments. However, as the Ministry found this to be challenging, they requested for written examination in return – which Edexcel had agreed to.
