Here Is The Latest Status Update Of MTCC’s Harbour Projects At The Islands Guraidhoo and Foakaidhoo

Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) is the first and longest-serving public company in the nation that has position itself as the leading civil and marine constructor in the country. In this capacity, the company continues to successfully undertake multiple projects simultaneously across all parts of the Maldives – even with difficulties posed by the ongoing pandemic.

Today, they have provided a status update on the following projects.

Design & Built of Harbor At Guraidhoo in Thaa Atoll

As per an update given by the construction giant today, 40% of the project is now completed with the recent installation of precast concrete blocks required for the quay wall construction.
The project which was awarded to them by the Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure is valued at MVR 46.01 million. It comprises work on dredging and excavation operations of 24,485cbm; construction of a 325m breakwater; a 185m quay wall; a 22m revetment and 1,875sqm of paved area.

Design & Built of New Harbor At Foakaidhoo in Shaviyani Atoll

Also awarded by the Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure, the project involves work on new harbor basin dredging operations of 39,995cbm; existing harbor basin dredging operations of 1800cbm; channel dredging operations of 4000cbm; construction of a 507m breakwater; a 100m revetment; a 464m quay wall; 2,320 sqm of paved area and installation of navigation lights and streetlights. It is valued at MVR 52.7 million. Dredging works for the new harbor basin is progressing well with 58% completion.

On 24th March, the first shipment of rock boulders required for breakwater construction was delivered to the project site.
