On the occasion of World Down Syndrome Day, the representative body of the students of Clique College – Students Association of Clique College (SACC) – has conducted virtual sessions for students of Care Society, Maldives in line with this year’s theme: “We Decide”.
The sessions which focused on the message “We Decide Our Future”, were conducted with the following objectives in mind:
- To encourage effective and inclusive participation of the students within the society, through contribution of their capability and potential career-wise
- To engage in interactive discussions regarding occupations and ambitions that the students were interested in
- To promote the understanding that all people with Down Syndrome should have active participation in making decisions about matters pertaining to their life, including their careers
In thanking the SACC for arranging the sessions for students, Direct of Programs at Care Society, Ms. Zaana Rafeeu stated that “Over the years support from individuals have made a difference and helped us to cater to the persons with disabilities ensuring their rights and empowering them to build a more inclusive community. Hence, we thank and appreciate the support and contribution from the Student Association of Clique College for conducting informative and exciting sessions for our students at Care Development Centre.”
According to SACC, many more events which aims to empower and promote inclusivity of Persons with Disabilities will be conducted to throughout the year.
The Students Association of Clique College (SACC) targets to promote academic interests of students whilst helping them become model citizens of the nation. In line with this, SACC, facilitates the opportunity for students to engage in a wide range of activities such as volunteerism, team building & youth leadership development camps, charity events, sports & recreational and environmental protection activities.
