Government Working Hours For The Month Of Ramadan Unveiled As From 9am To 1pm

On Tuesday, the President’s Office made an announcement disclosing the government working hours for the month of Ramadan and the first seven days of Shawwal – which is from 9am to 1pm. The decision was taken by the President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.  

Further detailed in the announcement is regarding adherence to safety measures set in place at working environments – both at government offices and private establishments – in the light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The details of the recommended safety guidelines are stipulated in the President’s Office Announcement Number 3/2021 (2 February 2021) – which can be found here. This guideline strongly encourages working from home at all possible situations and also to the amount of employees who come into their shifts in addition to provision of service via online resources amongst other things.  

The government working hours for the month of Ramadan and the first seven days of Shawwal is usually different every year. Prior to this, the workings hours have also been from 10am to 2pm.  

On this year, the first of Ramdan is expected to fall on 13th of April whereas the first of Shawwal is expected to be 13th of May.
