Second Doze of Vaccine Initiated for Special Cases

In a press conference held by the Health Protection Agency last night, Director, Ahmed Nasir has announced that special cases can now administer the second doze of the CoviShield Vaccine. Under two special conditions, those who register with HPA will be given the second doze starting from today.

Initially, it was decided that the second doze of CoviShield Vaccine will be administered four weeks post the first doze. However, the requirements have been eased for people having to travel abroad for medical purposes and students who can present valid documentation for reason of travel. It will also be considered that the duration of travel exceeds 12 weeks from the date of receipt of the first doze of the vaccine.

HPA informs that the second doze will be given on an appointment basis. Those who wish to travel accordingly can register with HPA by calling their hotline 1677 or emailing vaccine@health.gov.mv. While visiting the vaccination center, you are advised to carry identification proof, documents of travel, medical details and/or college enrollment notice with you.
