On her official visit to Jamaluddin School, Minister of Education, Ms. Aishath Ali has launched the ‘Koadhu Project’. Accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Environment, Minister Aishath toured around the food garden and spoke with students participating in the project.
The “Koadhu: Towards Sustainable Agriculture in Maldives” project is one of the 10 winning proposals from Students National Environment Symposium 2 organized by the Ministry of Environment in 2018. This project aims to establish an economically viable food garden in Jamaluddin School using sustainable methods of agriculture.
Students National Environment Symposium is an initiative by the Ministry of Environment in order to spread awareness among school students about the ongoing environmental risks and the importance of letting them participate in finding sustainable solutions to tackle the problems. It is conducted once in every two years and winning proposals are funded by the ministry for implementation.
