Minister of Youth, Sports & Community Empowerment, Mr. Ahmed Mahloof yesterday took a dive into the sea at the Swimming Track as he jumped off the brand-new springboard at the Diving Platform. A much-awaited upgrade in the area, opening of this diving platform signifies the importance given by the Minister to develop swimming professionally in the Maldives.
Opened to the public yesterday, everyone can now access this two-storey diving platform built to international standards. Enticed with a slide, children and adults alike can have fun and practice cannon-balling safely into the sea now.
Briefing about the details of the platform, Vice-President of Maldives Swimming Association, Ismail Ali said that even at the lowest tide, the sea area will have a depth of 14 meters ensuring the safety of everyone using the platform.
Many upgrades have been brought to the Male Swimming Track area over the past few months. This is a common area of use among the public and professional and aspiring local swimmers alike. With the opening of the diving platform, the scope of developing the skill among locals has increased, giving swimmers a platform to practice and refine their dives.
