The Health Protection Agency of Maldives has announced that Cafés and restaurants in the Greater Male region are allowed to remain open until 10.30 p.m. from today onwards.
The ongoing time limitations of stopping all services except take-away and delivery in the food outlets by 8 p.m. is now dissolved and all food outlets are to operate according to all the safety guidelines set by HPA. The measures apply to all cafes and restaurants in Male, Hulhumale, Thilafushi and Gulhi Falhu.
This announcement comes at a time when the country has been reporting positive cases of COVID19 in the Greater Male’ region at an alarming average of over 100 every day for the past few weeks. Further, the restriction of movement of motorized vehicles past 6 p.m. are to still be observed. Moreover, curfew times will also be in place, meaning everyone are to stay indoors from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m.
The death toll of COVID19 in the Maldives has reached 66 as of today, and 22.373 confirmed cases have been reported since the initial breakout last year. It is HPA’s humble request to everyone to play their part in staying safe and stopping the spread.
