Current Administration Reveals To Have Executed Projects Worth Over 12 Billion Since Assuming Office

Speaking at a ceremony held yesterday for the contract signing of projects pertaining to the development of water and sewage facilities in 34 islands – the Minister of Finance Ibrahim Ameer has revealed that this administration has spent over MVR 12 billion on a total of 310 various development projects across the country over the past two years.

Citing the challenges faced last year due to the global COVID-19 pandemic - especially the increased medical expenditure with having spent over MVR 3 billion in efforts to fight against the pandemic – last year still has been very progressive in terms of the development in the country as the government continued to carry out development projects without interruption.

Whilst the amount is several times higher than the amount spent on projects during the past five years, this is also a milestone that many previous administrations failed to reach. As per the Minister, this showcases the priority this administration puts on the basic needs of Maldivian citizens. He further states that the development projects will be executed regardless of the size or population of the island.
