MTCC’s Sh. Lhaimagu Harbor Development Project’s Basin Dredging Works Is 78% Complete

Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) is the first and longest-serving public company in the nation that has position itself as the leading civil and marine constructor in the country. In this capacity, the company undertakes multiple projects simultaneously across all parts of the Maldives.

On Tuesday, the Company has given an update on its Harbor Development Project at Lhaimagu in Shaviyani Atoll. Accordingly, current on-going is the new harbor basin dredging woks that is 78% complete.

This project involves dredging and excavation operations of 31,000cbm; construction of a 350m breakwater; a 276m quay wall; a 500m revetment; installation of 1,380sqm pavement, installation of navigation lights and streetlights. The first shipment of rock boulders required for breakwater construction has been delivered to the project site on 13th March.

In total, the project is valued at MVR 56.3 million and was a contract awarded to them by the Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure.

During last year, the company successfully completed 34 projects it was contracted to. It was also the year they had financially performed the best since inception.
