Today, State Trading Organization Plc (STO) has revealed their decision to increase the price of petrol and diesel being sold by the company – not even a month’s time since the last time it was increased. The underlying reasoning has been highlighted as the rise in prices in the international market. Prior to this, the prices were increased on 21st February.
Effective of today, the company will be charging MVR 8.85 for 1 liter of petrol which is an increase by MVR 0.41. Previously, the pricing was MVR 8.44 per liter. On the other hand, the price of 1 liter of diesel which stood at MVR 9.19 up until now will see an increase by MVR 0.60 – meaning it is now sold at MVR. 9.70 per liter.
The prices of petrol and diesel in the international market have always reflected in the pricing of STO. Accordingly, when the prices are lowered in the international market – so will it be in the Maldives.
State Trading Organization Plc (STO) conducts its fuel trade through the wholly-owned subsidiary - Fuel Supplies Maldives Private Limited. They are the principal importer of fuel in the country offering easy and convenient access.
