The President Departs On A Trip In Which He Is Set To Visit The Countries Qatar & Bangladesh

On Sunday evening, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih accompanies by the First Lady Fazna Ahmed and a high-level delegation of the Government of Maldives have departed on an official visit to the State of Qatar and a state visit to the People's Republic of Bangladesh. They are scheduled to conclude both visits and return back to the Maldives on 20th March 2021.

According to a statement made by the President’s Office, the main objective of the trip to Qatar is the strengthen the bilateral relations between the countries following the re-establishment of diplomatic relations recently.

The visit to Bangladesh scheduled for 17th March 2021 is to attend the official ceremony of the 'Birth Centenary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman'. Also on agenda for the President is to hold a one-to-one call with the Prime Minister of Bangladesh and to meet other senior officials of the Bangladeshi government to hold discussions on ways to further strengthen the bilateral relations between the two nations. In addition to this, the President, First Lady and the Maldivian delegates will meet the Maldivian community residing in Bangladesh.
