Experiencing The Beauty Of The Kulhi Area In G.Dh. Nadella From The Newly Opened Eco Park Is A Must!

Launched in 2019, ‘Aharenge Bank Community Fund’ by Bank of Maldives Plc (BML) is aimed at empowering local individuals and non-governmental organizations to contribute to their communities by way of sustainable projects. Under this campaign, the bank provides funding for proposals presenting ideas of community-based sustainable projects. All winning proposals are granted MVR 50,000 to transform their ideas into reality.

One winning proposal in this regard was submitted by Nadella Island Development Society (NIDS) from Gaafu Dhaalu Nadella for the development of an Eco Park at the Kulhi area of the island with the specific focus of increasing awareness and encouraging visitors to experience the natural beauty of the area while helping to preserve it for the upcoming generations.

Whilst yesterday marked the grand opening of the park, it is designed with a viewing platform which comes with an area that is equipped with solar lighting, seating areas and waste bins coming together to form a place that is relaxing, clean and environmentally sustainable. The maintenance of the park has been handed over to the island council.

Speaking regarding the project, NIDS expressed their gratitude to BML for funding the project in addition to the volunteers of NIDS and the people of the island who supported the project in different ways.

Since 2019, the Bank has provided funding for projects in 40 islands across the country under the Community Fund.
