During a special ceremony held yesterday, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) and the European Institute For Export Compliant (EIFEC) for the implantation of a Health Emergency Risk Compliance Management System (HER-CMS) at Velana International Airport (VIA).
As per the terms of the MoU, EIFC will assist to design, prepare and implement the HER-CMS in the context of an epidemic that can be integrated with managed departments of MACL and its certification. A strategic process for implementing this includes the analysis of the situation of the company, setting up the complaint management system and also staff training.
Accordingly, a joint team from the University of Turin and the Maldives National University will be conducting a series of staff training upon which they will receive accreditation as EIFEC Compliance Officers – effectively gaining international recognition as well. The EIFEC Compliance Standard and certification are endorsed by the Ministry of Tourism and the Health Protection Agency (HPA) as well.
The integration of all systems established at VIA to combat the global health emergency risk into one functional system by the certified HER-CMS will maximize its efficacy. Moreover, the Airport Certification would also provide further assurance to visitors that VIA is adhering to international standards and best practices while affirming their commitment to providing a safe environment for them - a vital factor in encouraging more tourists to visit the Maldives.
Actualizing HER-CMS will directly advantage the full chain of travel-related operation inbound, outbound in addition to within the Maldives directly benefiting the industries of airlines, resorts, hotels and guest houses, restaurants and other facilities that serve to the public in general, and activities enjoyed by tourists.
