In November 2020, Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) was awarded the Land Reclamation and Shore Protection Project at Dhuvaafaru in Raa Atoll worth MVR 143.1 million by the Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure.
Whilst MTCC’s colossal hopper suction dredger – Mahaa Jarrafu – arrived at the island just three days ago that will play a major part in the project – work on the project has officially commenced today according to the construction giant. This project involved work on dredging and reclamation operations of 22.2 hectares; 423m rock boulder revetment construction and 70m breakwater construction. It is expected to be completed within 445 days.
