Assistant Commissioner Of MCS Secures The Chair Of Integrity Sub-Committee At WCO

Maldives Customs Service is celebrating one of their greatest wins today. The Assistant Commissioner of Maldives Customs Service, Mr. Ismail Nashid has been elected as the Chair of the Integrity Sub-Committee at the World Customs Organization. This stands testament to the Maldives Customs Service becoming more professional and organized in addition to getting recognized on an international level.

Established in 1952, Worlds Customs Organization (WCO) is an intergovernmental organization headquartered in Brussels, Belgium. Their mission is to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of Customs administrations. Presently, the WCO comprises of 183 Customs administrations across the globe that collectively processes approximately 98% of world trade.

The Integrity Sub-Committee acts under the overall direction of the WCO Council and Policy Commission, with administrative support provided by the WCO Secretariat and mainly works on guiding the WCO work in the area of Integrity.

Commenting on the win, the Commissioner General of Maldives Customs Service, Mr. Abdulla Shareef notes that this a huge win the administration and the Maldives as a whole. He firmly believes that this is the first of many steps in upholding the current administration’s "Zero Tolerance for Corruption".
