Institute of Chartered Accountants of Maldives Unveils Their Official Logo & Website

During a special event held this morning at the Auditor General’s Office, the official logo and website of the Institute for Chartered Accountants of Maldives (CA Maldives) have been unveiled. It was launched by the Minister of Economic Development, Honorable Uz. Fayyaz Ismail. The Ministry of Economic Development is a prominent partner of CA Maldives in the execution of their work.

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of the Maldives is the statutory body formed to discharge the functions assigned under the Maldives Chartered Accountants Act (13/2020) which has been ratified by the President on 8th September 2020. They are mandated with the regulation and development of the accounting profession of the Maldives. The institute is also mandated with the registering and licensing parties for audit and assurance services, as well as registering financial professionals as its members.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Vice President of CA Maldives, Mr. Hassan Mohamed discussed the notable developments brought to the accounting profession in the Maldives since their inception. Namely, he specified the effort made in providing CPD opportunities for the working accountants. He further highlights holding career guidance programs for secondary and higher secondary graduates with an aim to train and attract students to the field. In this regard, the career guidance program has been held at 212 schools nationwide – counting over 4000 students in participation.

About 4500 foreigners currently work in the accounting profession of the Maldives. Hence, the Ministry & CA Maldives hopes to collaborate to create more opportunities for locals in this profession.
