Equal Payment Plan By STELCO Promises Customers A Fixed Amount For Electricity Bill For Monthly Bills

The leading energy provider in the country, State Electric Company Limited (STELCO) held a press conference today to announce the introduction of the Equal Payment Plan. This is a dream come true for every customer as they can expect to be charged a fixed amount in their monthly electric bills – making it much easier to plan finances.

Discussing the details regarding it, the Equal Payment Plan will be available for general house customers – homeowners and tenants for as long as they have the consent of the landlord who does not have any outstanding payments with the company.

Once customers put forward their application to enroll in the plan, they must sign an agreement STELCO for the provision of the service. Those enrolled can terminate the agreement at any time subject to a 30-day notice.

The newly introduced plan will allow customers to pay a fixed amount for electricity each month which will be a calculated average amount that is based on their monthly electricity consumption history. This is calculated using two methods. Whereas the electricity is already in use, the fixed amount will be the average of the monthly payments for the last 12 months. If the electricity is new, the fixed amount will be calculated as an average based on the size of the unit, the load of the electric items, and consumption.

It is important to note that consequent to the changes to electricity consumption during the lockdown period and changes to processing bills in light of COVID-19 subsidies in 2020, the fixed amount will be calculated based on the electricity consumption in 2019. If the customers have any issues regarding the calculation, they may request a review of it.

The Managing Director of STELCO, Mr. Hassan Mughnee notes that plan was introduced after analyzing customer feedback from the previous two years which identified the demand for such a plan.
