ARC AID Successfully Assists 587 Children In 300 Vulnerable Families Across The Nation During Last Year

Advocating Rights of Children (ARC) is a local non-governmental organization with a mission to protect and promote the rights and well-being of children. At the onset of the coronavirus pandemic in the Maldives, the NGO launched a special program to facilitate the provision of basic food supplies to children and their families affected by the crisis – ARC AID.

As part of their Corporate Social Responsibility, the largest local bank operating in the Maldives, Bank of Maldives Plc (BML) began their partnership with ARC AID in May, last year. Through financial assistance from the Bank, the ARC AID program was revealed to have extended assistance to 587 children in 300 vulnerable families across 9 atolls in the country.

Food supplies that are covered under the ARC AID range from rice, flour, lentils, milk powder, tuna cans, eggs, assorted cans of vegetables and beans.

Via social media today, the Bank notes the importance of similar initiatives to the ARC AID as it brings a positive change to the lives of the vulnerable groups during such a period of time. They have also shared a map of the Maldives which details the number of vulnerable children and families that have been reached out at specific islands.
