All About The Nationwide Internet Safety Campaign Which Began Yesterday

On the occasion of World Safer Internet Day yesterday, a nationwide Internet Safety Campaign has been launched by Ooredoo Maldives in collaboration with the Ministry of Communication, Science & Technology.

In this era of digital advancement, the internet has transformed our lives in ways we would have never imagined. It is widely utilized in all aspects of our lives today from: education, entertainment, business, service provision, communication etc. Over the past year, due to the ongoing pandemic, the need for the internet has skyrocketed as well in the light of the lockdown measures and social distancing practices. Nevertheless, despite the immeasurable benefits of the internet, it also poses serious risks to those who use it with an ever-increasing amount of cyber-crimes.

This campaign which aims to spread the much-needed awareness to ensure online safety in the Maldivian community includes a wide range of initiatives from the introduction of security tools, webinars for parents, webinars for students, digital literacy programs for the elderly, internet safety awareness videos etc. Moreover, both parties will be engaging with key stakeholders across industries to find solutions for existing social issues related to cyber safety, and create a safe space online for everyone.
