MMPRC Takes Part In Virtual Event To Connect With Travel Trade Partners From German Speaking Markets

German-speaking markets have always been traditional source markets of tourist arrivals to the Maldives.

In line with promoting the island nation as a tourist destination to German-speaking markets, Maldives Marketing & Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) is taking part in a virtual event organized by Aviareps. The two-day event which will be held from 9th February to 10th February is expected to be attended by around 600 participants.

This event is designed to connect with travel trade partners from Germany, Switzerland and Austria. Exhibitors include tour operators, airlines and shipping companies from this region along with 12 other global destinations. Venue exhibitors and attendees will be able to have an interactive experience via avatars by chatting or moving around to areas of interest.

During the event, Maldives will be showcased as a safe haven for tourists with emphasis on the unique geographical formation of scattered islands and the stringent safety measure in force at the moment. Apart from this, one-on-one meetings with travel trade will be conducted by MMPRC to provide general information on Maldives as well as the travel guidelines.

With extensive market coverage and a variety of partners being reached directly through one event space for the German-speaking market, destination awareness is expected to increase for this region.

Apart from this event, for this year, several other activities have been planned with the aim of achieving pre-pandemic arrival numbers. Amongst them includes joint campaigns with leading tour operators and airlines, digital media campaigns and visibility campaigns. MMPRC will also be taking part in one of the world’s leading trade shows set to held virtually in March, ITB Berlin. The use of German language-focused activities is also in the works to promote the Maldives as the most preferred tourist destination within this market.
