Launch of first self-service digital kiosk at VIA by Ooredoo Maldives

A kiosk is a small, free standing physical structure that displays information or provides a service. Currently, most kiosks are operated digitally in conform with modern technology. Ooredoo Maldives launched their first digital kiosk in Velana International Airport especially targeted to on-arrival tourists, today. The kiosk has a user friendly interface which will be accessible for self-service 24/7. It is located right in front of the main arrival area of Velana International Airport.

A special ceremony was held at Velana International Airport to officially inaugurate the launch of the service which was attended by Honorable Minister of Tourism, Dr. Abdulla Mausoom who was joint by CEO & MD of MACL, Mr. Gordon Andrew, MD of MMPRC, Mr. Thoyyib Mohamed and Ooredoo Maldives Board Director, Uza. Dheena Hussain.

The digital kiosk enables tourists the registration, payments and instant dispatch of tourist SIM cards in which the service is provided completely contactless. The provision of this service is especially crucial during the pandemic of COVID-19 as it effectively work to ensure safety for its customers as well as its employees.

Chief Commercial Officer of Ooredoo Maldives, Hussain Niyaz has highlighted during his speech at the ceremony that it was their duty to use their strength and resources to contribute to the nationwide efforts in rebuilding the tourism industry. Coincidentally, or perhaps not, today is marked as the World Tourism Day 2020, globally.
