MACL Bestowed The ISAGO Certification By IATA For A Third Consecutive Time
Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has happily revealed on social media that they have attained the Safety Audit for Ground Operations by International Air Transport Aviation (IATA) for the third consecutive time – commonly referred to as the ‘ISAGO certification’. As the Ground Service Provider of Velana International Airport, MACL has received this certification in the years 2016, 2018 and 2020 respectively.
During a special ceremony held on Thursday, the certificate was handed over by the Safety, Security and Quality Department of MACL to the Company’s Managing Director.
The ISAGO certification was awarded to MACL subsequent to a comprehensive audit carried out by IATA in the areas of Organization and Management (ORM), Load Control (LOD), Passenger & Baggage Handling (PAB), Aircraft Handling & Loading (HDL), Aircraft ground Movement (AGM), Cargo & Mail Handling (CGM).
IATA’s ISAGO program has been built upon a "backbone" of audit standards applicable to all ground handling companies worldwide, coupled with a uniform set of standards relevant for the specific activities of any ground handler. The audits assess the management and oversight systems in place at the Ground Service Provider's corporate Headquarters and the implementation of ground operations processes and procedures at selected stations. All ISAGO audits are performed by IATA selected, trained and qualified auditors, inducted into the IATA Charter of Professional Auditors (CoPA).
