On Tuesday, the Institute for Chartered Accountants of the Maldives (CA Maldives) announced that they have begun accepting applications for its membership as an associate and fellow members.
According to their press release, to apply for the membership, they must register with CA Maldives through their website. They have also specified the requirements applicants must meet to qualify as a member.
In this regard;
· Applicant must meet the general eligibility criteria
· Individual must be in good standing of an IFAC member body recognized the by Institute
· Have had worked in public practice, commerce industry, as a lecturer at an institution of higher education or as an accountant in a business for a period of at least five years
In consideration of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Council of CA Maldives has made the decision to waive the admission fee of members – MVR 2500 – for this year. However, all members will be subject to an annual subscription upon admission amounting to MVR 2500.
They also encourage applicants to apply as soon as possible as a CA Maldives membership is necessary for Statutory Audit Licenses.
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of the Maldives is the statutory body formed to discharge the functions assigned under the Maldives Chartered Accountants Act (13/2020) which has been ratified by the President on 8th September 2020. The institute is mandated with the regulation and development of the accounting profession of the Maldives. The institute is also mandated with the registering and licensing parties for audit and assurance services, as well as registering financial professionals as its members.
