Passport Services Begin in Hanimaadhoo, Expanding Access in Haa Dhaalu Atoll

The Maldivian passport service is now fully operational in the Haa Dhaalu Atoll of Hanimaadhoo and this further enhances accessibility to the much needed services of the government by the people in the northern part of the islands. The most recent growth enables the dwellers of the atoll to enjoy improved passport and ID card collection locations without the obligation to travel over a long distance.
Maldives Immigration is reporting that people who are filling passport application in Haa Dhalu Atoll can now select a collection point in Hanimaadhoo, besides Kulhudhuffushi City and Makunudhoo. It is an attempt in a wider initiative to enhance service delivery to the people and result in quicker and more convenient issuance of documents in the country.
The growth is based on a commitment by the President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu to expand expedited ID card and passport services to all the atolls. It is within this commitment that the widespread implementation of these services was introduced on 16 November last year, and where key administrative services will be made accessible to the communities across the nation.
The introduction of the ID card and passport services into all atolls was achieved on 7 October this year which will go a long way in the decentralisation programme of the government. This was formally celebrated by a ceremony organized in Mahibadhoo upon which the President visited the islands of the Alifu Dhaalu Atoll.
As Hanimaadhoo joins the network, the passport service network keeps expanding as there is still a need to enhance efficiency, accessibility and convenience of the citizens in the Maldives.
