Dhiraagu Opens Third Data Centre in Velidhoo

The third data centre, in N. Velidhoo, has been the big step Dhiraagu has taken in its digital transformation. The new plant supports the interest of the company in enhancing technological access and empowering the digital infrastructure across the Maldives.
It was inaugurated on 11 November 2025 by the Dhiraagu CEO and Managing Director Ismail Rasheed, along with the President of the Velidhoo Island Council, Athif Hussain. Their attendance emphasized the value of this project in the development of the country and to the local communities.
The facility is constructed as Tier III Ready Data Centre and it is based on the standards of reliability, security, and performance across the globe. Its introduction will enable companies such as resorts and local companies to store and protect their data locally to their operations. This optimisation will likely boost reliability of cloud services, reinforce the critical applications and help in continuity of the business in general. The faster and efficient access to digital services will also be enjoyed by customers in the adjacent atolls.
This is in accordance with the historic opening of the first Tier IV Certified Data Centre in Hulhumalé by Dhiraagu in the beginning of the year, the highest certification of information offered by the Uptime Institute. Combining the two facilities is a significant move towards increasing digital resilience in the country.
As Velidhoo data centre opens, Dhiraagu maintains its position as the most important digital enabler in the country, and it is investing in the creation of advanced infrastructure to help the growth of the islands in the long term, innovation, and connectivity.
